Airrapy pillowed air
The world’s first and only 3D microclimate delivery repositioning system, Airrapy Pillowed Air, allows caregivers to reposition patients without disrupting low air loss therapy. Airrapy utilizes low air loss repositioning devices to elevate, stabilize, and position patients safely while reducing heat, moisture, and pressure. This advanced therapy support system combines active and reactive therapies to manage the skin microclimate, maximize immersion and envelopment, and offload critical pressure points to provide improved patient outcomes.
traditional repositioning devices create pressure, heat, and moisture
Traditionally, healthcare providers reposition patients using pillows or foam repositioning wedges. Although these devices help offload a small area, such as the sacrum, they block the therapy provided by the support surface and cause increased pressure on surrounding tissues. [1] Additionally, they may increase the heat and moisture on the patient’s skin, increasing the risk of pressure injury.
Airrapy overcomes these limitations with the first ever low air loss repositioning devices
Airrapy low air loss repositioning devices offload and position the patient while reducing pressure, heat and moisture at the skin surface, helping prevent pressure injury.
IMPROVED IMMERSION TO PROVIDE BETTER OUTCOMES
Airrapy™ therapy support and repositioning system provides preventative therapy for patients at high to very high risk according to your sound clinical judgment. Airrapy™ also provides therapeutic management for patients with an existing stage 1, 2, 3, or 4 pressure ulcer, in conjunction with your facility’s policy on pressure injury management.
PROVEN EFFECTIVENESS
By expanding the therapy surface area, the Airrapy mattress replacement repositioning system achieves higher immersion than other low air loss systems. Airrapy achieved an industry-leading 54.21% average immersion in independent S3i testing! [2]
While many other therapy support systems may increase the temperature at the skin to support surface interface, Airrapy support surface produces an average of 3.9° C of temperature relief. [3]
Pressure mapping studies demonstrate significantly lower interface pressure compared to foam wedges or standard hospital pillows.
airrapy embodies the 3 PILLARS OF A SUPERIOR THERAPEUTIC SUPPORT SURFACE
PRESSURE REDISTRIBUTION
“The ability of a support surface to distribute load over the contact areas of the human body”
Airrapy utilizes pillows, wedges, and Airrapods™ to increase the contact area between the therapy support system and the patient’s body, thus distributing the load over a greater area and reducing the overall mass managed by the mattress replacement system. This results in greater pressure redistribution than competing low air loss systems.
immersion
“Penetration (sinking) into a support surface, measured by depth”
Airrapy’s adaptive LAL positioning devices create a buoyant surface that immerses the body part being repositioned. Combined with the Airrapy mattress’ ten inches of air therapy, this provides the greatest immersion of any low air loss support system, as demonstrated by S3i testing.
envelopment
“The ability of a support surface to conform, so to fit or mold around irregularities in the body”
Airrapy’s dynamic, free-flowing LAL positioning devices mold around the body part being repositioned, providing controlled envelopment while redistributing the patient load. The caregiver can adjust the envelopment to the patient’s needs using the Pillow Port control valves.
supported by the powerful theraflo ap blower
Providing up to 2,000 liters per minute of airflow, the powerful True Low Air Loss TheraFlo AP blower assures appropriate air flow for the support surface and any added positioning devices.
Airrapy features and benefits
true low air loss
Regulates the microclimate by slowly releasing air to keep skin dry and wick away moisture, aiding in the prevention of skin maceration.
three therapy Modes
TheraFlo AP pump provides three therapy modes, Static, Dynamic, and Pulsate/DBE, in addition to continuously providing true low air loss therapy.
static Mode
Reactive continuous low pressure (CLP) therapy adjusts the air pressure in each cell based on the patient’s movement, allowing the patient to be immersed and enveloped by the support surface and minimizing pressure on the patient’s skin and subcutaneous tissue.
dynamic mode
Active therapy alternating pressure with 5, 10, or 15 minute cycle options.
pulsate with dbe Mode
Pulsation mode stimulates capillary blood flow by gently increasing and decreasing cell pressure during the programmed cycle time. DBE lifts the patient from the immersed state for 30 seconds to encourage deep breathing, then returns the patient to the prior settings for 60 seconds.
intelligent pressure sensing
Intelligent Pressure Sensing (IPS) technology automatically adjusts the internal pressure in response to patient movements to continually maximize total envelopment based on the patient load.
adjustable comfort
Adjust firmness using up and down arrows to enhance patient comfort.
max Inflate/auto firm
Rapidly hyper-inflates the entire mattress to allow for easier egress, turning, and lateral transfers.
quiet operation
Lowest operating noise level allows your patients to rest.
upright feature
Supplies increased air flow to the sacral region to prevent “bottoming out” when head of bed is raised.
Easy-to-use interface
Intuitive operation with the easy-to-read faceplate and simple touch controls designed for ease of operation by caregivers.
built-in carry handle
Compact design with built-in carry handle for convenient transport.
Airrapy products
Use Airrapy LAL pillows, wedges, and Airrapods to redistribute the patient’s weight or to reduce or offload weight from a specific body area:
- Elevate heels
- Under legs to create a neutral spine position
- Between limbs (between knees when laying on side)
- Behind head
AIRRAPY™ 3d microclimate delivery system
Airrapy’s 3D Microclimate Delivery System provides for the first time a therapeutic support environment that enables targeted microclimate therapy and weight redistribution for those areas where a patient needs it most. Adjustable Pillow Port valves regulate airflow individually to each of Airrapy’s wide assortment of positioning devices.
AIRRAPY™REUSABLE AND single patient use PILLOWS, WEDGEs and airrapodS™
Airrapy’s variety of LAL accessories allow patient-specific repositioning, airflow and firmness. Airrapy’s pillows and wedges are dynamic and free-flowing, providing superior LAL therapy to assure superior patient outcomes.
AIRRAPY™ Low air loss airrapods™
Airrapods™are LAL devices that come in a variety of shapes and sizes. First designed to work with our bariatric patients for use between skin folds and under a pannus, Airrapods can now be used in operating rooms to eliminate pressure points, pinch points, skin-to-skin contact and for safer positioning. Airrapods work with the Airrapy Pillow Ports or can be directly connected to a separate air pump in any room.
AIRRAPY™ INFECTION CONTROL ADVANTAGES
Airrapy’s translucent air cells allow caregivers to see dirt, fluids, mold, and other foreign matter that make their way into low air loss air cells, providing improved infection control. Light green outer casing allows easy visualization of dirt and fluids ensuring more thorough cleaning.
